Fine Art Black & White Prints
Digital black & white printing is finally feasible with the newest printers. No longer do you see a hint of magenta here and a little cyan there. Tones are a beautiful continuous gray-scale throughout the image.
Upload your file and let us know how you would like it toned. There is no additional charge for toning; however, if we are not doing the set-up, there will be a charge for proofs.

Converting Colour to B&W
- Open the image in your editing program and have a look at the three channels (red, green, blue) to see what information is in each one. Usually one or two have most of the information you find appealing for your conversion to grayscale.
- Then use the channel mixer, preferably in a layer. Click monochrome and adjust the sliders for your aesthetic, remembering which channels have what information. It will make sense when you try it. Every image will be different. When you are done the image is still in RGB mode, but you can see a beautiful B&W image on your monitor.
- Convert to grayscale and send to the printer. This method allows you to create a beautiful custom grayscale conversion. Much software just uses the red channel and toss the blue and green rather than making a perfect balance.
Tinting B&W
Images from monochrome files can be tinted almost any colour during the printing process.
The four images shown are a good representation of basic options: cool, warm, sepia, and selenium. Each tone has an aesthetic that replicates traditional fine photographic printing.
